Three Little Crickets and the Big Bad Bear
By: Lexi P.
Once upon a time, there were three small little crickets with a bright green body. Those three crickets lived with their mother. The first cricket was named Chip, the second cricket was named Pip, and the third cricket was named Zip. One night the mother chirped to the three little crickets and said “My little crickets, it is time for you to explore the river bank. Go and make yourselves a home of your own. But please promise me that you will keep watch for the Big Bad Bear.” “We promise” The three little crickets chirped. So they all made a little leaf backpack of all of the thinks they need. And then the three little crickets left.
Once a week had passed by, they met a trout fish that was looking for food for her kids to eat. “Hi my name is Chip and I was wondering if you could please give us a pile of your sticks in the lake?” Chip asked. “Well of course” the trout fish said as bubbles came out of her mouth. So she handed them a pile of wet sticks and then swam away. So the three little crickets hoped to a place where there was silky muddy ground. And they started to build a shelter of sticks.
The very next morning the big bad bear crawled over to the cricket’s shelter that they built then hid behind a tree. And watched as the crickets were making breakfast. The three little crickets were making some fly soup mixed with track they had found on the ground. When they turned around they saw the BIG BAD BEAR!!!!!! So they hoped as fast as they could into there stick house and tried to blend in.
The big bad bear stood over the sticks and yelled, “ Let me pass by your little house of stick it is in my pathway!” “No no no” the three little crickets chirped. “By the dirt on our leggy- leg- legs we will not let you pass by, you have to find a way, a different way.” The crickets yelled. “Then I will moan and your stick house will shake and then fall down from my loud moan!” the bear mumbled. So he moaned and he groaned and he groaned and he moaned but the house just didn’t fall down!
But the big bad bear was called big and bad for a reason. He went back to his cave and got his pointy rock. So he came back and threw it at the sticks, and it came down in lots of little pieces. The three little cricket’s barley made it out before the sticks came down. They were very scared.
“We need to build a much stronger house,” The three little crickets explained. Then out of the corner of their eye, they saw a monkey that was flatting rocks and freezing glue. “Will you please give us some of your flat rocks and glue?” they asked. “Of course” the monkey said and gave them piles of flat rocks and liquid glue that hasn’t been frozen yet. So the three little crickets built themselves a house out of flat rocks and glue.
While the bear was passing by he saw the little house made out of flat rocks and glue. When they saw the big bad bear they ran inside and hid. The big bad bear said, “Please let me pass by your house of flat rocks and glue!” The bear asked. “Non no no” the three little crickets chirped. “By the dirt on our legfy-leg-legs we will not let you pass by, you will have to find a way, a different way” the crickets said. “Then I will moan and I will groan and make your house fall down!” the bear yelled. So he moaned and he groaned and he groaned and he moaned and the house just didn’t fall down! But the bear was called big and bad for a reason. So he went back to his cave a brought back a saw and he hit the house down! The three little cricket’s barley made it out before the rocks feel down. The dirt on their leggy-leg-legs were jumping off of their legs and running as fast as they could.
So that next day the three little crickets built themselves a brick house. Then the big bad bear came back. The three little crickets saw the big bad bear and they ran inside their house. The bear yelled, “The three little crickets with dirt on their legs, let me pass by!” “No no no” The three little crickets chirped. “By the dirt on out leggy-leg-legs we will not let you pass by, you will have to find a way, a different way!” They yelled. “Then I will moan and I will groan and I will groan and I will moan and make your house fall down!” The big bad bear yelled. So he moaned and he groaned and he groaned and he moaned but the brick house just wouldn’t fall down. But the bear was called big and bad for a reason. So he went back to his cave and brought back his big bulldozer and dropped it on the brick house and then lit it on fire. The whole house came to burn little pieces. The three little crickets’ barley made it out of the house before the bricks came down and lit on fire. They were trembling inside.
“We have to find something different,” Chip said. At that moment they saw a panda bear rolling down a hill with a bucket of grass. “May we please have that bucket of grass?” The three little crickets asked. “Of course” the panda bear said kindly. So the panda gave them the bucket of grass and the crickets made a house of the grass. One wall was light green grass, one of dark green, one of yellow, and one of blue grass. The ceiling was made out of all of the different kinds of grass. And the floor was a carpet of white grass; it was a very fragile house but a very pretty one. The next day the big bad bear came along and saw the little house of grass the crickets have made. The bear yelled, “Little crickets let me pass by your house of grass” “No no no” the crickets said. “By the dirt on out leggy-leg-legs we will not let you pass by, you will have to find a way, a different way.” They said. But the bear took a deep breath ready to moan and groan and then he smelled how fresh the grass smelt. It was a good fresh smell. Because the grass smelled so good he took another breath and then another. Instead of moaning and groaning he just smelled the grass. His heart filled with joy and he realized how mean he was being. Right then he decided to be a good bear. He started to jump and laugh. At first that three crickets thought that he wasn’t a bad bear he was a messed up bear. They thought it was a trick. But soon they realized that it was no trick. The bear really did change. So they started playing games with him. They played leapfrog then bear in the middle and lastly and played hop scotch.
The three little crickets game the bear some BEARies, and crickies and asked if the bear wanted to live with them. The bear said yes and they lived happily together forever.
